Does anyone here have experience flying behind both of these systems? If so, what are your thoughts on the two very different systems?
The obvious differences that I see are that the G500 has a much larger display area, while the two-screen Aspen has redundancy. The Aspen is also the only glass system I am aware of that allows you to remove the backup altimeter and airspeed indicator. This is useful for people with extremely limited panel space.
I’ve been behind both. I have limited experience with the Aspen and I enjoyed flying it. The set up I flew with had dual 430’s and an MX20.
I think the Garmin is the better system, that may be due to my bias for Garmin products, I have become very accustom to Garmin. Problem with the Garmin is the price, it’s substantially more expensive than the Aspen. If cost is a concern, go Aspen.

I’m not sure the Aspen system costs less than Garmin’s. I guess if you only got the Aspen PFD, it would cost less than the G500. With two screens, the Aspen system probably costs more. Aspen databases cost less. Aspen’s weather costs less than Garmin’s.
I have to agree on the cost question. Comparing the EFD 1000 Pro single unit with the G500 is something I see many do and I don’t think the two systems are comparable. I fly the G500. I have not flown the Aspen but did look at it before installing the Garmin and would not want to trade. The avionics shop that upgraded my panel does both and gets Aspens back because of issues considerably more frequent than the Garmin.

I own a Columbia (aka Cessna) 400. I love it’s clean panel and visual appeal.

It’s nothing compared to your Columbia but I enjoy it. I’d like to add the JPI 830 engine monitor one day. I’m not currently flying IFR so weather is not as important as engine health for me right now but it certainly would be nice one day. The JPI 830 can be interfaced with my G500 to provide comprehensive flight planning data and that would be nice.

I deleted the other thread - the one where you mentioned you hate spammers! We have been fighting them for a couple months. Absolutely no value to anyone and a waste of their time as well.
I think they are hitting sites like ours for search engine optimization. They can’t damage anything.
This forum has good intentions but we haven’t marketed it yet. That will change by this summer.
